Hello, I'm back from no-where as I've had a rather interesting week. Nuckinfutz is still rip roarin' and annoying the pants off of mostly everybody who is either a holy roller or easily offended. I had to go to a funeral for my neighbor's mom today. Not the way I would have spent my day off, but it was a very nice memorial and it was a beautiful day outside to boot. Quite a few of my friends were there, as my neighbor's brother is one of my good buddies as well.
On a more upbeat side, On friday I Finally picked up a xbox 360, as I had just been paid and turned in about 90 dollars worth of old games to the local Game Crazy. It was really hard to try and not cry as I parted with my well earned four hunnid', though I must say , seeing the first tree covered hill at a distance in Elder scrolls IV made all the diffrence.
On the topic of spending obscene amounts of money, this upcoming sunday a pal and I are making a road trip to Chicago to visit the Illinois Institute of the arts, seeing that both he and I are interested in attending, him sooner than I. Then after that, in may mom and I shelled out 300 bucks apiece to go visit my sister in Seattle, which will be cool. While we're out there, I'll probably get a hold of one of the Exchangers I spent my year in Europe with who I had visited last year. Ha, if it wasn't for my 17 cent raise a few weeks back, NONE of this would be possible. I love corporations
Had a 9 to 12 work shift last night/morning where temps from a counting agency came and we inventoried the ENTIRE store. It wasn't so bad despite the constant beeping and having to recount certain areas that had over 500 items (argh candy). In fact my boss and I left there around 3:30, when I was told that we could have left sooner if one of the temps didn't royally mess up the count on alot of things. I think I got up less than an hour ago. But I feel really bad for Lee, who left at 2 this morning and had to open at 8. She doesn't live too far, but still. And I have to be in at one today, but it's a 5 hour shift, so that's nothing.
Had the past two days off from work, and got quite a bit accomplished. Yesterday I went down to the basement and cleaned out everything. We had old empty boxes laying everywhere, broken down furniture that my dad was either going to fix of get rid of, cobwebs up the wazoo, and I cleaned the whole bloody place!! See, mom and I were planning on turning the basement into a workout area, but everytime we say " hey, this weekend, let's work on the basement", something always comes up or we completely forget. So I took it upon myself and finally went down and got motivated.
Yea.
Not much has happend at work lately, everybody is still crazy, especially over our "March maddness" promo:
"Nuckinfutz"
That's right, the bozos in marketing have done it again. We've got huge Nuckinfutz signs hanging all over the place, and we're waiting for the little old holy-roller or dyslexic 4 year-old to come in and cause problems. I hear that many mall stores have already taken down the signs due to the mall managers flipping out. Whats' even worse is the backstory behind it all, which goes along the lines of: Nuckinfutz was once a man who lived in the year 1XX3, who invented alcohol, partied all day and night, and was asked to be mayor of something or other and his reply was:"what do I know, I'm Nuckinfutz!".
So far we've had few complaints, but we'd hung the signs fairly high, so nobody really notices.
*Harumph* Aside from today being St. Patrick's day, work was dull. Nobody reserved anything or got sighned up on replays at least until 5 or so (i had 42 transactions with only 1 replay and 2 Res.....That's really bad). Normally I wouldn't care so much, but the new district manager has us tracking how well every individual does for the week, and say I had a slump for over two weeks, her deal is to drop dead weight when needed. I think it's bloody rediculous to threaten us like that, even when the boss man says that only he decides if we go or not. Suffice to say, I'm not too fond of her or her policies.
Not alot of people where dressed in green this year. I was a little let down. Not only was turnout bad, but when I wanted to get St. Paddy's stuff, there was nothing to be seen. I wound up with a small plastic hat (set at a jaunty angle, of course), some glasses that even Elton John wouldn't wear, and a "kiss me, I'm irish" pin. Suffice to say, the pin didn't work too well. I think everybody is trying to downplay the whole "spirited/drunken fun" of the holiday, same as halloween, with more "parental guidance" on costumes, and lame trick or treating hours; six to eight? Not on my watch. I'd be doin a bit o' T&T and eggin' houses till the cows come home......
Not that I'd ever do anything like that......
Wow, I've never gotten that far off subject before. Must be a new record of how spontaneous this post has become.
Ok, sorry about that last post. My boss had called right as I was writing, so I kinda had to get off and such. but anyways, the topic of discussion has more or less resolved. The guy came in and my boss gave him a few free-bees, but the dude was still threatening to write a letter to corporate even after I had called again and apologized, so more or less I am off the hook, unless the guy decides to complain to the higher ups, then things would get sticky.
